THE 5 GOALS WE ARE WORKING TOWARDS

1. Pursue the most important needs further

We are very clear that as a business, we wish to have a more positive impact and play an important part to propel the climate agenda forwards within the building and real estate investment sectors. It is no longer enough to simply meet the bare minimum requirements. Throughout 2022, we will pursue a targeted approach with our existing clients, encouraging them to move beyond the minimum requirements as set out in the introduction to this report. We will choose to only work with likeminded businesses who are moving towards a low carbon future and a circular economy.

2. Create more impact

We will focus on creating impact by supporting more environmental and social projects. In January 2022, we will begin our ‘impact of the month’ initiative, where each month we will support a different charitable cause aligned with our mission or values. This could be through a donation, volunteering hours or supporting a campaign (Earth Hour, Fridays for Future). To make ES a more impact driven business, we will also pursue at least one accreditation and look for investment opportunities that further the positive climate action agenda.

3. ESG Education

We plan to provide more trainings for our staff as well as for our clients. In 2021, we designed a training programme which we will continue in 2022. Social media is also going to play a role when sharing information about sustainability topics and ESG. We also plan on having an event with all our staff to learn more about a specific topic. In 2022, we will support a student project and offer two students to accompany us for one year.

4. Smart home system for our office

In 2022, we will implement a smart home system for our office. So-called smart thermostats make it possible to set specific heating times and control the heating in the office as needed via an app. The system also indicates when the window is open and automatically turns down the heating in that room. We will evaluate the consumption data after one year and continuously optimise the system.

5. Planting trees

In 2022, we want to support a Berlin campaign run by the Berlin Senate Department for the Environment, Urban Mobility, Consumer Protection and Climate Action, which aims to plant many more trees with the help of private and corporate donations in order to improve urban well-being and environmental quality, as well as to increase the urban quality of life for residents. We will also continue to plant trees with Ecologi, through our monthly subscription and larger one-off donations, with a target of planting 100,000 trees by 2025.
